Eligibility
•Outstanding academic records and achievements (first-class honours degree or equivalent from a reputable university)

•Applicants must apply for full-time PhD study at The University of Hong Kong
•Meet HKU's minimum English language proficiency requirements (e.g., TOEFL or IELTS for applicants from non-English teaching universities)
Details
The HKU Presidential PhD Scholar Programme (HKU-PS) is the most prestigious doctoral award offered by The University of Hong Kong. It aims to recruit the brightest minds from across the globe to pursue PhD studies and conduct transformative research. Selected scholars receive generous financial support throughout their normative study period, including full tuition waiver, living stipends, travel subsidies, and accommodation support.
Financial Benefits
•Up to HK$437,900 in the first year and up to HK$417,900 per year in subsequent years of normative study
•Cash award of HK$40,000 in Year 1 and HK$20,000 per year in subsequent years
•Postgraduate Scholarship (PGS) of up to HK$28,200 per month (approx. HK$338,400 annually)
•Annual composition/tuition fee waiver of HK$42,100
•Conference and research-related travel allowance of up to HK$14,000 per year
•Guaranteed hall accommodation in Year 1 with a 50% hall fee subsidy
