The Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS) was established in 2006 to enhance the development of international student education in Shanghai and encourage more outstanding international students to study in Shanghai. The scholarship is open to international students applying for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs at participating universities in Shanghai.
Eligibility Criteria
•Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
•Applicants for the bachelor’s degree program must have a high school diploma and be under 25 years of age.
•Applicants for the master’s degree program must have a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years of age.
•Applicants for the doctoral degree program must have a master’s degree and be under 40 years of age.
•Applicants must have excellent academic performance and meet the language requirements of the higher education institutions.
•Applicants must not be holding any other Chinese government scholarships.
Financial Benefits
•Type A (Full Scholarship): Exempt from tuition fees, accommodation fees, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance.
•Type B (Partial Scholarship): Exempt from tuition fees and comprehensive medical insurance.
•Monthly Stipend (Type A): RMB 2500 for Bachelor's students, RMB 3000 for Master's students, and RMB 3500 for Doctoral students.
•Accommodation: Free on-campus accommodation or a housing subsidy.
•Comprehensive Medical Insurance: Included for both Type A and Type B.
