The Fund Internship Program (FIP) is the International Monetary Fund's primary internship opportunity. It is designed for highly promising graduate students to gain an insider's view of the IMF's work. Interns are assigned to a specific department and work on a research project or operational work under the supervision of an experienced IMF economist. The internship typically lasts 10 to 12 weeks and takes place at the IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C. Successful interns may be considered for the Economist Program (EP) upon graduation.
Eligibility Criteria
•Must be a student in a graduate program (Master's or PhD) in macroeconomics or a related field
•PhD students: Must be within one or two years of completing their Ph.D.
•Master's students: Must be in their final year of study
•Age: Must be below 32 years of age at the commencement of the internship
•Language: Must have an excellent command of written and spoken English
•Must be returning to university studies after the completion of the internship
