Details
Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations. The scholarships offer fully funded awards to study for a Master's degree at any UK university. The programme provides a unique opportunity for future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers from around the world to develop professionally and academically, network extensively, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK. The application window for the 2027/2028 academic year is expected to open in August 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country (including The Gambia and most African countries). Must return to their country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after their award has ended. Must have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable them to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university by the time they submit their application. Must have at least two years’ work experience. Must apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by a specified date.
Financial Benefits
Fully funded, including university tuition fees, a monthly stipend, travel costs to and from the UK, an arrival allowance, a homeward departure allowance, the cost of one visa application, and a travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK.
