Details
The Fulbright Foreign Student Program enables graduate students, young professionals, and artists from abroad to study and conduct research in the United States. The program operates in more than 160 countries worldwide. Approximately 4,000 foreign students receive Fulbright scholarships each year. Deadlines are set by the local U.S. Embassy and can be as early as February and as late as October 2026 for the 2027-2028 academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
Program eligibility and selection procedures vary widely by country. Applicants must be citizens of a participating country (most African countries, including The Gambia, participate). Generally, applicants must have a completed undergraduate degree and a strong academic record. Please consult the U.S. Embassy in your home country for specific requirements and deadlines.
Financial Benefits
The grant funds tuition, airfare, a living stipend, and health insurance for the duration of the study. The Fulbright program also provides enrichment activities and a strong network of alumni.
