Eligibility
•Be a citizen of an African country
•Have applied for and obtained an offer of admission to an eligible full-time postgraduate degree program (Honours or Master's) at the University of Cape Town
•Demonstrate strong academic merit and potential for leadership
•Come from an economically disadvantaged background and face significant financial barriers to education
•Demonstrate commitment to giving back to the community and driving transformative change in Africa
•Priority is given to female applicants, displaced persons (refugees and internally displaced youth), and persons with disabilities

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cape Town (UCT) provides academically talented yet economically disadvantaged young leaders from across Africa with comprehensive support to pursue their higher education. Beyond financial assistance, the program fosters leadership development, mentorship, community service engagement, and career readiness to empower graduates to become transformative leaders in their home countries and across the African continent.
