Eligibility
Candidates seeking admission as new full-time PhD students in UGC-funded universities in Hong Kong, irrespective of their country of origin, prior work experience, or ethnic background
Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic excellence, research ability and potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities
Applicants must meet the general admission and English language proficiency requirements of their chosen host university/universities

The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS), established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong, aims to attract the best and brightest students worldwide to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong.
Participating universities include:
City University of Hong Kong
Hong Kong Baptist University
Lingnan University
The Chinese University of Hong Kong
The Education University of Hong Kong
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
The University of Hong Kong
Application Process:
1.Submit an initial application through the HKPFS Electronic System (HKPFSES) to obtain an HKPFS Reference Number.
2.Submit full application(s) for PhD admission directly to the selected host university/universities quoting the assigned HKPFS Reference Number before each institution's respective deadline.
Financial Benefits
An annual stipend of HK$337,200 (approximately US$43,230)
A conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$14,000 (approximately US$1,790) per year
Financial award support provided for a period of up to three years (universities may offer additional support for students requiring a fourth year)
